Barbara Kirby has a broad background in agriculture and equestrian activities. She has ridden professionally and was formerly with the United States Department of Agriculture. An accomplished equestrian, in 1976 Ms. Kirby showed an Arabian to National Championship honors.
In 1994 and 1998 she was named the AHSA (now USEF) Adult Hunt Seat Equitation National Champion. Ms. Kirby has shown successfully on the “A” Hunter/Jumper circuit, including competing in Grand Prix’s.
Ms. Kirby has also shown American Saddlebreds, barrel horses, western breed horses, and has even won a steeple chase. Barbara as competed in combined training (winning at the preliminary level), combined driving (winning at the intermediate level), and dressage.
Barbara has been on the AHSA (now USEF) Zone 7 Committee and the national Owner’s Committee. Ms. Kirby is past president of the Greater Kansas City Independent Insurance Agents Assn. and past president of the Kansas City Professional Horsemen’s Assn. Barbara has also been on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Horse Shows Assn. and the Greater Kansas City Carriage & Driving Society.Barbara Kirby also judges regional hunter/jumper shows, western shows and carriage driving shows.
