Investing in the right motorcycle gear

The motorcycle gear you choose is almost as important as the type of bike you buy. By having the right motorcycle gear, you’ll not only enjoy your ride more, but also protect your body and help prevent serious injury.
First up on your list should be investing in a quality helmet that is approved by the US Department of Transportation (DOT). Make sure to get a helmet that fits you snugly and passes all safety standards for each of the four components: the strap, padding for comfort, a liner outside of that, and then a hard shell on the exterior. If a helmet ever seems uncool to wear, just remember how cool they are for being your first line of defense in preventing head injuries.

Many people overlook gloves, but they are critical pieces of equipment. We naturally use our hands to break our fall, so gloves will keep our hands protected since they often hit the pavement first in an accident.

Jackets, pants, and suits:
Whether you are looking for a jacket, pants, or an entire suit, these pieces of equipment will keep you much safer than nothing at all. Many rookie riders mistakenly opt for more fashionable wear, like an old pair of ripped blue jeans or a stylish sweatshirt, but leather riding clothes were designed for a reason: to protect your body from serious harm. When pros get in 200+ mph accidents with no serious injuries, it’s partly because they are wearing the best motorcycle suits money can buy.

Staying dry in the rain:
It’s no secret that motorcyclists are exposed to the elements, but how do you go about enjoying a ride through a rainstorm? Rather than suffering through soaked clothes, invest in rain gear that will keep you and your clothes dry.

When you invest in the proper gear, the quality of each ride is immensely enhanced. Not only do you enjoy the ride more in the short-term, but it is safer all around for the long haul as well.
