Martial arts loss control news - Vol. 1, 2019

The longer you practice your art, the more skilled and knowledgeable you become, quickly able to respond to an adversary’s threats and attacks. Through years of dedication practicing your art, you learn to become a more proficient martial artist. The same is true for establishing well-managed loss prevention strategies to protect your martial arts school.

According to the Glossary of Insurance and Risk Management Terms, insurance “Black Belts” define loss prevention as a risk management technique that seeks to reduce the possibility that a loss will occur and/or reduce the severity of those that do occur. Also known as risk control or safety. Driver training programs are loss control programs that seek to reduce the likelihood of accidents occurring. Sprinkler systems are loss control devices that reduce the severity of loss by fire. Understanding what exposures martial arts schools might face helps to better defend against them.

To help you create a solid risk management defense, let Markel Specialty be your Sifu. Markel Specialty can assist you in addressing these concerns by helping you identify conditions, develop action plans to help mitigate loss potential, and transfer knowledge to assist in better understanding issues that lead to claims. Loss control helps create a safe and sustainable working environment for customers and employees, and assists in reducing business expenses through use of industry safety standards and best practices.
